Think. Create. Steward.

Hands-on, instructor-led labs for people who want to understand AI, create useful systems, and steward what they make. Progress from foundational AI literacy through applied engineering to evidence-based AI and software assurance.

  • AI Literacy
  • Applied Development
  • ASEI Assurance

ASEI certification tracks are in development. Joining the interest list does not confer certification or reserve a credential.

Learning pathways

Three ways in

THINK, CREATE, and STEWARD are separate pathways. You can start with the one that fits your work. Completing every track is not required.

  1. 01 / THINK

    Understand AI

AI literacy, metacognition, model behavior, bias, limitations, critical reasoning, and human oversight.

Best for: Educators, coaches, project managers, business professionals, and curious learners.

Outcome: A documented AI decision and evaluation framework.

  2. 02 / CREATE

    Create with AI

Data modeling, APIs, GitHub workflows, agent orchestration, MCP, testing, and secure application architecture.

Best for: Analysts, technical practitioners, developers, and teams.

Outcome: A working, documented AI-enabled workflow or application.

  3. 03 / STEWARD

    Steward the evidence

ASEI methodology, risk assessment, audit evidence, finding validation, remediation, retesting, and responsible deployment.

Best for: Developers, technical reviewers, and aspiring auditors.

Outcome: An evidence-backed assessment and stewardship plan.

Planned ASEI credential pathway

Three issuer-defined levels are in development. None of them is available for enrollment, and none is presented as accredited or endorsed by a standards body.

  1. 1

    Planned

    ASEI Foundations

Interpret AI risks, assess scenarios, understand reports, and identify escalation needs.

    Proposed assessment: scenario-based evaluation.

  2. 2

    Planned

    ASEI Certified Practitioner

Connect a code repository, execute ASEI, investigate and validate findings, and document remediation and retesting.

Proposed assessment: independently completed practical audit.

  3. 3

    Planned

    ASEI Certified Auditor

Assess unfamiliar systems, distinguish tool alerts from substantiated vulnerabilities, prioritize risk, and defend an audit report.

Proposed assessment: independently reviewed capstone and oral defense.

These credentials are in development and are not currently presented as accredited, independently endorsed, or recognized by a standards body. Referencing OWASP, NIST, or ISO practices does not imply their endorsement or certification.

ASEI

What makes ASEI different

ASEI is a practical review sequence. Automated tool output is not a verified finding, and passing an assessment is not a guarantee of security.

  1. Step 1: Connect

Use a permitted repository or safe training environment.

  2. Step 2: Run

    Execute scoped, authorized assessment checks.

  3. Step 3: Evaluate

Review evidence and distinguish false positives from substantiated findings.

  4. Step 4: Fix

Document and optionally implement authorized remediation.

  5. Step 5: Verify

Rerun relevant checks and capture an audit trail.

Integrity

Practice environment and assessment integrity

Labs may use controlled, intentionally vulnerable sample repositories. Student access must be isolated, authorized, and limited to sandboxed targets. A credential assessment measures individual competence. Attendance, or a successful run of an automated tool, is not that assessment.

  • Lab attendance

Showing up for a session. Attendance is not course completion, an individual credential, or a judgment of software.

  • Course completion

Finishing the published coursework for a pathway. Completion is not an ASEI credential.

  • Individual ASEI credential

A planned assessment of a person’s competence. It does not certify that person’s software or project.

  • Software or project assessment

An evidence-based review of a system. It does not credential the person who built or reviewed it.

Audience

Who it’s for

The Foundations path does not require coding experience. Practitioner and Auditor paths will have technical prerequisites published before enrollment.

Who it’s for

  • 1

    Educators and nontechnical professionals

People who need a clear way to question model output, name limitations, and decide when a human should stay in charge.

  • 2

    Builders and developers

People who want to ship an AI-enabled workflow with tests, permissions, and a record of how it was built.

  • 3

    Technical leads and project teams

Teams who need a shared language for data, architecture, and the evidence behind a release decision.

  • 4

    Future auditors

Reviewers who want to practice turning tool output into substantiated findings, remediation, and a retest.

FAQ

Questions before you join

Not for Foundations. Practitioner and Auditor tracks will require technical proficiency, and those prerequisites will be published before enrollment.

Not yet. The curriculum and assessment criteria are still being developed. Joining the interest list does not confer a credential.

That is planned, subject to cohort availability. Not every lab is scheduled.

No. An individual competency assessment and a software or project assessment are separate. One does not certify the other.

No. ASEI is an independent, issuer-defined assessment methodology. Any mapping to a standard has to be documented for that engagement. Referencing a practice is not an endorsement by that body.

Practice uses authorized repositories or controlled labs, with access and privacy safeguards. Credential work is designed to measure your judgment, not only whether a tool ran.
